Dudley’s Aluminium has improved materials handling at its Cardiff manufacturing facility and storage unit with the delivery of a second Combilift multidirectional forklift. Turnover has topped £200m and profits have grown at materials handling equipment supplier Briggs Equipment. The company, which is the exclusive UK distributor of Hyster and Yale forklift trucks, generated revealed of £204m in the year to 31 December 2017, new accounts have revealed, up from £179.1m 12 months prior. Briggs said the hike was "significantly underpinned" by major contract wins in the ports and terminals market, as well as an overall increase in market share. It was also bolstered by the strength of its engineering service business. Pre-tax profit for the period climbed to £3.3m from £2.4m in 2016, while overall income more than doubled to £2.4m from £1.1m. North Wales company specialising in material handling equipment has become a CAT Lift Truck Dealer. It marks the latest important step in the continuing expansion of Hannaman Material Handling. David Davis has resigned as Brexit Secretary, complaining that the government's agreed policy makes it look "less and less likely" that the UK will leave the customs union and the single market. Theresa May faces MPs later, as she outlines the plan discussed by the cabinet, with critics complaining that it will lead to a "soft" Brexit. Mr Davis - who was followed in his resignation by junior minister Steve Baker - said the UK could be left in "at best a weak negotiating position". But the prime minister said she didn't agree and thanked Mr Davis "warmly" for his work.
