Third party multi-temperature warehousing and logistics network, Norish, has introduced lithium-ion battery-powered Flexi articulated VNA truck technology at its cold store facility at Brierley Hill in the West Midlands. The company, which has used Flexi VNA trucks throughout its business for some 15 years, opted to replace the lead-acid battery-driven Flexis that had been in operation at the facility with new models from the Flexi LiTHiON range. The fully integrated Flexi LiTHiON’s lithium-ion power system requires zero maintenance and no battery changing to deliver extended multi-shift availability – making the Flexi LiTHiON the ideal solution for modern temperature-controlled stores. One of the key benefits that the switch to lithium-ion technology has brought to Norish is
A growing number of companies have recognised the potential of tugger train solutions and lean production without stacker trucks: tugger trains bring efficiency into intralogistics materials transport, either to group ground level transport movements over long distances or for high-frequency supplies to production lines. STILL, the Hamburg intralogistics expert, offers the LiftRunner, a complete tugger train system consisting of a variety of frames and trolleys, in addition to various electric towing tractors. As well as pallet trolleys for large load carriers, small load carriers are increasingly being transported on rack trolleys. To expand the product range of tugger train components, STILL has therefore added a series of standardised rack trolleys with various equipment options ...
Netherlands-based Desch Plantpak has modernised its internal transport fleet by selecting UniCarriers to supply ten electric forklift trucks from its new TX series. The electric forklift trucks are equipped with NexSys Thin Plate Pure Lead (TPPL) batteries from EnerSys, which make unimpeded interim recharging possible. Desch Plantpak devises and produces all kinds of innovative solutions for the professional horticultural sector. Pellets are supplied for the production of rolls of film, which are transported to an intermediate storage facility. The rolls are transported from the intermediate storage facility on a call-off basis to the various production units, which transform the film into flowerpots, plant trays and plant packs. Once the finished products have been palletised and w...
John Tudball, Warehousing Specialist for AB InBev, is set to discuss the company's 80,000 m3 automated warehouse on Friday 27 September at the NEC Birmingham. Budweiser Brewing Group opened its new automated warehouse with space to store 23 million pints of beer at its largest UK brewery in Magor, South Wales, late last year. The world’s largest brewer plans a global roll-out of the warehouse technology, making Wales the starting point for the technology expected to cut its carbon impact. The new facility was opened by local MP for Newport East, Jessica Morden.
Warehouse space is becoming increasingly inadequate in the face of rising demand. One reason for this, is the continued growth of online shopping. Statista forecasts that revenues in B2B transactions alone will rise from over €40 billion in 2018 to around €46 billion this year. Space-saving solutions from Hyster can help to utilise every square meter of available space within the warehouse. As early as the 1970s, the construction of high-bay warehouses led to the construction of special narrow-aisle lift trucks that enable companies to optimise their storage capacity. Today, many companies are forced by the ever-growing on-line market to increase their storage space with an unchanged floor plan. Optimise available space “In warehouses, a typical counterbalance truck may need a
Ottakringer is the oldest brewery in Vienna – and its beer is famous far beyond the city limits. As well as maintaining the highest standards in quality, the brand caters for almost every taste with over 20 types of beer. Its beer is brewed right in the heart of the Austrian capital city. To ensure that all processes run smoothly, one of the things Ottakringer relies on is its electric forklift trucks, as well as Fronius charging technology and expertise. When it came to equipping the new charging station for forklift trucks, two requirements were paramount: the station needed to comply with current safety standards and be more energy efficient than the existing infrastructure. Fronius has supplied twelve Selectiva battery charging systems. Over 540,000 hectolitres of beer leave the
Pyroban is increasing safety at a Scottish whisky distillery with arrival of explosion-proof electric lift trucks. Chivas Brothers is introducing the adapted Hyster E3.5XN to its facilities in Tormore, near the Cairngorms National Park in the country that makes drivers aware of flammable whisky vapours and shuts down the machine automatically if necessary. Featuring Pyroban’s system 6000 which continuously monitors the direct environment around the lift truck using infrared gas-detection technology targeting ethanol. Rob Vesty from Pyroban explains: “When a mixture of potentially flammable vapour in the air is detected it initially gives an audible and visual warning to the driver but if the vapour and air mix approaches potentially explosive levels the system shuts down the p

Avery Weigh-Tronix, one of the world’s leading industrial weighing manufacturers, has extended its range of industrial weighing equipment with the introduction of the PTS2000S; the next generation of pallet truck scale which works as part of three innovative solutions designed to drive business efficiencies. The PTS2000S drives operational efficiencies by making in-motion weighing part of the natural process of moving goods within the organisation. Build features including high quality steel, polyurethane wheels and a shock and vibration resistant scale make it ideal for use in harsh operating environments. While wireless and Bluetooth connectivity allows for the instant transfer of weight data from the scale to the user’s back office system, avoiding manual data input. The PTS2000S
